Forex Compounding Calculator

See how a balance grows when a steady return is reinvested every day, week or month. Add a monthly deposit or withdrawal, then compare the result with the same return earned without compounding. It is a planning tool, not a forecast. No trading return is guaranteed.

On a Velotrade funded account the balance resets to its starting value after each payout, so gains are paid out rather than compounded. The same 2% per month on a fixed $10,000 would be $2,400 of profit, of which you keep 80% ($1,920), or 90% with the paid add-on. The max drawdown is static, so steady small gains matter more than a high rate.

How to use this calculator

01

Set the starting balance

Enter the amount you start with. Tap a preset to match a common account size.

02

Enter a return and a period

Type the average return per period and choose day, week or month. Negative returns work too, and are worth testing.

03

Add deposits or withdrawals

Optional. A monthly amount is spread evenly, so $1,000 a month is about $47.62 per trading day or $230.77 per week.

What these numbers mean

Compounding: Reinvesting each gain so the next return is earned on a larger balance. It works in both directions, so losses compound too.
Return per period: The average gain or loss for each day, week or month, as a percent of the balance at the start of that period.
Ending balance: What the account holds after the last period, including any deposits and after any withdrawals.
Total gain: The trading gain added up across every period. Deposits and withdrawals are left out, so it shows what the returns produced.
Without compounding: The same return earned on the starting balance only. This is close to how a funded account behaves, since payouts reset the balance.
Deposit or withdrawal: A fixed monthly amount added or taken out, spread evenly over the periods in a month. A withdrawal never takes the balance below zero.

The compounding formula, with examples

Ending balance = Starting balance × (1 + r) ^ n

Here r is the return per period as a decimal and n is the number of periods. Each period the gain is added to the balance, so the next gain is worked out on a larger amount. With a deposit or withdrawal, each period is the previous balance × (1 + r), plus the deposit or minus the withdrawal. The calculator counts 252 trading days, 52 weeks or 12 months in a year.

$10,000 at 2% a month for 12 months

  • The first month gains $200. After 12 months the balance is $12,682.42, a gain of $2,682.42.
  • Earning 2% on the original $10,000 only would give $12,400, so compounding adds $282.42 in a year.
  • The gap widens with time. After 24 months it is $16,084.37 against $14,800.

Why 1% a day is not a realistic plan

  • Compounded over 252 trading days, 1% a day turns $10,000 into about $122,740, more than 12 times the start.
  • Few traders hold anything close to that pace, and the position sizes needed to try would break most loss limits first.
  • Even 0.1% a day, which ends the year near $12,864, is a demanding pace to keep up.

Withdrawing the gain every month

  • $10,000 at 2% a month with a $200 monthly withdrawal stays at exactly $10,000, because each gain leaves the account.
  • Over 24 months that is $4,800 taken out, against $6,084.37 of growth if the gains had stayed in.
  • A funded account works this way. After a payout the balance resets to its starting value, so profits are paid out rather than compounded.

Every Velotrade plan uses a static max drawdown and a daily loss limit of 3% to 5%, so the limits, not the compounding rate, set how fast an account can safely grow. See your exact limits in the drawdown calculator, and how long a challenge fee takes to pay back in the ROI calculator.
